Antique Danish Gustavian grandfather clock with carved hand painted grey and gilt long case with original working 8 day movement. The tall case in typical Gustavian light grey hand painted finish and with gilt highlights to carvings and patina. A curved ornate crown moulding above the clock case of the provincial Empire period of neoclassical design. This clock demonstrates the sharing and inspiration of styles between the Scandinavian kingdoms or Norway, Denmark and Sweden in the 18th century. The brass clock mechanism with top mounted large bell and twin cast iron weights.
