An impressive elegant and well proportioned late 18th century provincial Louis XVI bureau bookcase or secretaire desk in well figured oak with fitted interior drawers. The solid oak doors with diamond chevrons of the French Louis XVI period. The carved oak front writing desk top below the doors reveals an interior with 7 brass knob drawers with central storage space space. Below the desk are 3 graduated size drawers all with ornate brass handles and matching escutcheons. Raised on elegant taper legs, this cabinet is made in the traditional 18th century manner with oak peg construction.
