Superb quality original antique Empire period fall front secretaire desk. A beautiful piece of 1820 furniture is the ultimate in an Empire Biedermeier bureau desk. It is beautifully veneered in book matched flame mahogany with contrasting string satinwood inlay. Recessed black chevron to drawer fronts with ormolu bronze escutcheons. Fitted drawers still retain most of the original locks and working keys with bronze escutcheons. The writing surface opens with a steel key and has an internal counter balance weight with stops, so no need to pull out desk rests on either side! secret drawers !
