Antique set of 4 walnut chairs of the early Biedermeier period. The elegant gondola backs inspired by French Empire examples and most likely made by noted Viennese factory of Josef Danhauser 1805-1845.
Solid walnut construction with shaped backs that scroll very eleganty and have a book matched walnut veneered back rest. The deceptively simple looking shape to the back curves gracefully but supports the back very well and with raised chair leg stretcher, only on the sides, are typical of the ingenuity of Danhauser's designs currently exhibited in the Applied Arts Museum in Vienna Ma 1820
