This large antique oil painting is presented in a carved giltwood frame. The back of the painting has an annotation :
"John Goodman : Whimsical figure dancing in the forest 1911."
The original work is by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite entitled Fairyland.
Outhwaite was prolific in paintings of elves and fairies and published several folios.
The depiction of a whimsical Fairy floating in the air conducting the dance of the fireflies as the dawn is breaking amongst the trees.
