Important French pedestal torchere stand

Antique 18th century French torchere table with ornate carved support in heavy Honduras mahogany 1770. The well designed and caved stand with octagon shaped top is ideal for a candlstick or candelabra for illumination. Supported on a tapering turned and fluted column to a sturdy tripartite leg base and raised on dainty brass sabot feet . Note the design with its small top and wide leg spacing makes for a very sturdy and stable table. Superb quality with its superb architectural carvings and precision in execution is probably intended for the Chateau de Bagatelle 1777 in Paris.
