Antique 18th century French torchere table with ornate carved support in heavy Honduras mahogany 1770.
The well designed and caved stand with octagon shaped top is ideal for a candlstick or candelabra for illumination. Supported on a tapering turned and fluted column to a sturdy tripartite leg base and raised on dainty brass sabot feet .
Note the design with its small top and wide leg spacing makes for a very sturdy and stable table.
Superb quality with its superb architectural carvings and precision in execution is probably intended for the Chateau de Bagatelle 1777 in Paris.
