This delightful pencil portrait of Margaret Olley is a rare drawing of the famous Australian artist when she was a student at the National Art School in Sydney in 1945. She was sharing a flat in McMahons Point with her friend and fellow art student Margaret Cilento.She has cleverly captured Olley in a pensive moment, and it is an important document of artists working in mid-century Australia.
