Young girl by candlelight G Schalken

Oil painting on canvas after Dutch artist Gotfried Schalcken (1643-1706) Girl by candle light with page boy. Schalken was reknowned for his paintings with figures by candlelight. The illumination and its reflections on skin and cloth created a very intimate atmosphere. The original of this painting is located in the Bavarian State Paintings Collection in Munich and would date 1699-1706. titled: Boy trying to blow out a girl's candle. This is an 18th century painting presented in an early 19th century giltwood frame in very good condition. Photos do not do this masterpiece justice.
