Swedish large Gustavian armchair 1780's

Swedish large antique Gustavian 18th century armchair fauteuil in the French Louis XVI manner of the period circa 1780. The well carved frame in beechwood with ornate details raised on turned and fluted neoclassical legs. Gustavian furniture, unlike French versions, are simplified neoclassical designs and this makes the overall appeal so much more human in scale. The craftsmanship of the timber construction is superb with pegged joints traditional to 18th century furniture. The beechwood frame has been ebonised to highlight the shape.
