Early Colonial Australian cedar swivel armchair with leather seat and lyre back fully restored 1845.
The curved back with neoclassical lyre support centre and scrolling armrests.
A leather seat replaces the old caned seat for more comfort. Seat height 53cm.
The seat is mounted on a free moving swivel mechanism cast in iron that also securely holds the four scrolling legs.
The legs with brass castors allows the chair easy movement.
I have had a matching armchair made and stamped by J Sly, also in cedar but this chair does not have any maker's stamps.
