Colonial Australian swivel armchair 1845

Early Colonial Australian cedar swivel armchair with leather seat and lyre back fully restored 1845. The curved back with neoclassical lyre support centre and scrolling armrests. A leather seat replaces the old caned seat for more comfort. Seat height 53cm. The seat is mounted on a free moving swivel mechanism cast in iron that also securely holds the four scrolling legs. The legs with brass castors allows the chair easy movement. I have had a matching armchair made and stamped by J Sly, also in cedar but this chair does not have any maker's stamps.
