A leading Australian artist, Margaret Cilento won international awards for her work & studied at prestigious schools in Paris, London & New York where she shared a studio with fellow antipodean artist Elaine Haxton. She created this portrait in Ny in 1947. Margaret studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, at the famous Atelier 17 and won a French Government scholarship to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
