Terracotta sculpture of Panther Fagotto

Original terracotta sculpture of a Panther on a rocky outcrop. The statue with gilt finish and stamped Belgium serial number and the inscribed signature of A Fagotto. In excellent condition with original finish, this figure is often mistakenly entitled Lioness stalking but the outcrop has a flow of water emminating from the rocks under the panther's front paws and with his tongue outstretched to reach the stream. Armand Fagotto was famous for his lifelike sculptures of animalier. depicting the power and energy in lifelike models is self evident. He worked in the late 1880's till 1920.
