Antique Irish 1780's Georgian mahogany longcase clock grandfather clock with 8 day movement and original hand painted dial - a value point, signed John Maclean Dublin. Elegant and refined neoclassical Georgian clock case in mahogany with satinwood string inlay and short trunk door for pendulum access. Original hand painted dial with gilt highlights and Roman numerals signed by the maker John Maclean. Britten's Clocks and Watches lists this Irish watchmaker as trading in Dublin around 1780. The clock has the traditional two train 8 day movement, time keeping and separate bell striking.
