This Chinese pictorian buddhist tapestry or pillar carpet would originally have adorned a great temple of worship and would have been hung on the wall.
The legend depicted is that the bodhisattva was reborn as a ruru deer. The deer hears a man in distress and rescues him from the river ...and eventually travels preaching the dhamma.
In very good condition with good thick woollen pile and tight structure.
all hand knotted and good original fringes
