Very rare antique Milanese ebony and ivory inlaid savonarola throne armchair attributed to Ferdinando Pogliani 1832-1899.
Pogliani worked in Milan from 1854 onwards and his fabulous furniture is well sought after by antique connoisseurs for his superb Renaissance style of furniture.
His elaborate marquetry inlay into ebony with scrimshaw ivory with superb details that makes a really striking contrast.
This Savonarola armchair is in the traditional 16th century Florentine manner.
A lovely original patina finish to the inlaid ebony.
