French gilt cherub Roman putti sculpture

French Gilt brass or bronze putto cherub with twin flutes in the Roman style on turned marble pedestal . The shaped taper holder or candlestick top with lovely detailed work sits above the chrub's head. This cupid may be an ancient Pompeiian design as the twin pipes were usually used to placate the Medussa. Mounted on a lovely white and pink marble dase. Traces of verdigris and original gilt finish.
