Original heavy majestic sculptureof a standing lion attributed to Armand Fagotto with original rare glazed finish in terracotta circa 1910
Armand Fagotto lived and worked mainly in France during the late 19th century and the early 20th century. His sculptures are very recognizable and he has a talent for powerfully sculpting predator animals on rocks. He lets the strength of the animals come to the fore through the use of precise yet flowing lines.
This hand sculpted terracotta although unsigned and may have been a test piece for particular fired glaze colours and how they perform.
