Antique Baroque Danish Gustavian grandfather clock with carved hand painted falun red and gilt long case with original working 8 day movement. The tall case in typical Gustavian form with hand painted finish and with gold leaf gilt highlights to carvings and patina. A carved arch top Georgian crown moulding above the clock case of the provincial neoclassical design. This clock demonstrates the sharing and inspiration of styles between the three Scandinavian kingdoms or Norway, Denmark and Sweden in the 18th century. The brass clock mechanism with top mounted large bell.
