Big Original oil painting on canvas of a Roman Aqueduct signed Mogens Ege 1(892-1946) in ornate gilt carved frame
This painting is on the large scale and depicts the Anio Novus Aqueduct built by the Roman Emperor Caligula in 38 Ad to bring waters from the river Aniene to Rome's Porta Maggiore.
Of significant provenance, this rare painting was offered for sale by noted Danish art auction house Bruun Rasmussen in 2007 and again in 2011.
This painting features the ancient Roman ruins of the aqueduct with the hills of Rome in the background and a covered cart and horse in the foreground.
