Original Danish oil painting on canvas signed Ingolf Due Olufsen in ornate gilt carved frame circa 1930.
Born in Copenhagen Denmark in 1904, Ingolf Due Olufsen was influenced by Leo Houlberg and was famous for painting in the Paris manner of mid century Montmarte artists with particular spatula technique . He painted Copenhagen streetscenes and Danish landscapes.
This painting features the fish sellers on the Gammel Strand with the copper spire of the recently completed Christiansborg Palace ( 1928) in the background.
