Antique Danish Gustavian grandfather clock with carved hand painted faux woodgrain long case with original working 8 day movement. The tall case in typical Gustavian form with hand painted finish and carvings and patina. A carved fretwork gallery with ornate crown moulding above the clock case of the provincial Empire period of neoclassical design. The brass clock mechanism with top mounted large bell and twin cast iron weights. The bell strikes the hour count. A long brass pendulum is housed within the case. The clock face with hand painted enamel face with Roman numerals dated 1856
