Large Renaissance cast display plater

Renaissance antique platter ornate sculpted charger with gilt highlights 19th century Berlin Lauchhammer original. Signed by Lauchhammer foundry in Berlin in the late 19th century this display platter could easily be mistaken for bronze but in fact, was made of the much rarer and much harder to produce material of cast iron. Jewel-like quality of this example with mercurial gilt ormolu highlights adds to the luxury of this gorgeous design. 19th-century foundries perfected casting of superb high-quality decorative items in Cast Iron and this foundry in Berlin certainly succeded. 4.3kg
