I have been collecting for most of my life and like most in this business, had to open a shop in order to keep the habit alive. I started with a stall in London's Portobello Road back in the 70's, opened a shop in Wales in 1982 and shipped the entire contents of the Welsh shop to the Australian Blue Mountains in 1989. We moved north to the sub tropics in the early 90's for the warmer weather and I have maintained the addiction, mainly selling at trade fairs and antique centres across the country and in the last few years in my semi retirement I have tended to operate more via the internet, something I never would have believed possible 40 odd years ago!!
Reproductions in just about everything antique now make it lot harder to find a genuine piece, but it's still out there if you know where to look and who to talk to....
My passion is 18th & 19th C clocks, pocket watches, furniture, paintings, English pottery, scientific instruments, marine collectables and more recently old mechanical wrist watches. All of my stock is selected for it's originality, rarity and idividuallity (as per the Australian Maritime box pictured, which is now in the collection of the Maritime Museum, Sydney) I am a keen buyer of these items (in any condition) and am always up for a haggle or a trade on any of my stock, talk to me ;-)
